observations

finally got a an internet connection. it's not good at all, but seems to be the best i can get. the lack of internet has led to the fact that it's been a while since my last post. i've made some observations since then and thought i'd share them with you.

• getting internet in this country is very complicated
• i love ikea
• i still don't have a visa
• when i get to the office at 9 am, i'm the first one there and the others don't drop in until at least an hour later
• my blackberry is my best friend
• it's not possible to use a normal frying pan on an induction cooker
• even the scruffiest of cars have surprisingly efficient air con
• jackie chan owns the building where i work
• cutting a fringe before going to a very warm and humid country is a bad idea
• i've got mini ants in my kitchen
• the singaporean tube is very nice
• chinese tv is crap (and for those of you who now think i don't know that singapore isn't china - they have chinese tv channels here, about six out of the eight channels i have are chinese, as a matter of fact)
• if you wear flip flops your feet get cold when the air con is set on 16°c
• singlish is really hard to understand
• it's difficult to talk yourself out of a situation where a fanatic christian tries to get you to go to her church for bible studies
• i'm 95.3% sure the hostel where i stayed 2008 is next door to my apartment building
• tomorrow is friday
